About Tommy!

My journey began at the age of 9 with the flute. I loved the recorder in my Elementary school Music program. My dad took me to a music store and said, "pick any instrument, and I will buy it for you!" I chose the flute because it was the same fingerings as the recorder, at least somewhat. I am so lucky that I chose one of the most beautiful instruments. It was then that I knew I discovered my first passion.

I am grateful to have been recognized in many state competitions including the Advanced Masterclass at the Florida Flute Convention with Paula Robison and Leone Buyse, the Texas Flute Festival Masterclass Competition with Gary Schocker, the Wisconsin Flute Festival Masterclass competition with Marianne Gedigian, and receiving 2nd Prize in the High School Young Artists’ Competition as well as the the College Young Artists’ Competition at the Florida Flute Association.

My journey with music has given me the privilege to travel nationally and internationally to many places across the United States as well as Peru, Ireland, Guatemala, Canada, Spain, and France.

I am a certified teacher of the Alexander Technique. I completed my Alexander Technique Training in Chicago (ATTiC) with Daria Okugawa. This is a AmSAT certification, requiring a 3-year, 1600-hr teacher training.  I have also had the privilege of completing post-graduate work with, Helene Weisbach (AmSAT, Emeritus Member). I have given workshops for National Louis University, El Conservatorio en Lima, Peru, in Cusco, Peru, Arizona State University Saxophone Studio, Chicago Flute Club, Mid-Atlantic Music Therapy Conference, Great Lakes Region Music Therapy Conference, and Niles Township District for Special Education.

I completed my Music Therapy Internship at Giant Steps, a therapeutic day school for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I currently work at the Niles Township District for Special Education as a Music Therapist. I work with children ages 5-13 diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Behavioral/Emotional Disorders, and non-ambulatory students.

I currently teach and perform in Chicago and in the surrounding suburbs. I have a private teaching studio in Avondale.
